SUMMARY:The Senior Application Development Data Architect is
responsible for the data architecture solutions on various projects
that support the organization in achieving its strategic goals. The
architecture will cover data at rest stored in the databases, data
in flight used for operational integration. The position is also
responsible for advancing and promoting the enterprise data
standards, metadata management, business semantics, data modeling
and information lifecycle management. This is a remote position in
Houston, Texas. #LI-RemoteResponsible for definition, stewardship,
and active management of NMDP's Data Architecture:
- Assists with defining data architecture for NMDP.
- Establish partnerships with key stakeholders, collaborates with
partners to ensure successful adherence to enterprise data
architecture policies and standards.
- Ensures that data is captured, stored, and used appropriately,
in adherence to enterprise data standards.
- Provides technical guidance, analysis, and direction, for
enterprise-wide key projects and strategic initiatives as it
relates to information architecture.
- Finds common ground and gains cooperation when conflicts arise
and provides process improvements.Provides architecture support and
guidance to the project delivery teams:
- Works with Software Engineers, Data Analysts, Business/Systems
Analysts, and solution-specific Technical Leads to develop database
models based on business and systems requirements.
- Serves as the lead technical resource in the planning, design,
construction, and oversight of data models and database structural
design and development.
- Creates and maintains conceptual, logical, and physical data
models that meet business and systems requirements for OLTP
environments.
- Defines and specifies the artifacts and the requirements to be
met at the project level and to be included in project plans.
- Manages the relationship with project teams by providing
positive and solution-oriented leadership.
- Leads the analysis of business data to identify patterns and
correlations among the various data points.Develops standards,
processes, and tools:
- Leads the research and recommendation of database architectural
standards.
- Ensures compliance with the established company-wide database
standards, best practices, and SOPs.
- Researches the changing marketplace to keep current with
technology leaders, methodology, and tools.
- Other duties as assigned.REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:Knowledge of:
- Advanced proficiency in Data Analysis and Data Modeling of OLTP
systems using ERD and/or UML modeling techniques.
- Proficiency in using PowerDesigner (strongly preferred) or
other modeling tools.
- Experience in data pipelines and integration techniques using a
variety of ETL tools and/or messaging.
- Experience with two or more database platforms including SQL
Server, Postgres, Oracle, and Snowflake.
- Advanced Experience in SQL, Transact SQL, and PL/SQL
development.
- Data Governance practices.Ability to:
- Demonstrate strong technical skills and the ability to
understand business strategy and implement that vision through
technology.
- Be a forward thinker with an enquiring mind and the ability to
grasp the diversity of our systems and network, and the ability to
make recommendations and implement solutions.
- Identify cost optimization for cloud databases.
- Create scripts to modify database structure in support of new
features.
- Support business users who query data directly for their roles
(data quality team).
- Demonstrate strong business acumen and awareness of business
requirements determining database design.
- Exhibit strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrate sound judgment and reasoning skills.
- Strong ability to assess complex situations, set priorities and
implement action plans.
- Demonstrate strong organization skills, and be able to work in
a team environment.
- Exhibit an attitude of positive determination and
accountability.Education and/or Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, or Business with an
emphasis in Management Information Technology. However, upon
evaluation, equivalent related experience and/or education may be
substituted for the degree requirement.
- Minimum of 8 years of IT experience in software engineering or
analysis roles.
- Minimum of 5 years of Data Modeling & Architecture
