was established in 1947 and serves as the sole program training
veterinarians in Minnesota. The College of Veterinary Medicine has
provided the professional educational foundation for more than
5,000 veterinarians and nearly 1,000 scientists in the DVM and
graduate programs throughout a rich 75-year history of animal
health leadership. Serving a broad mission of improving the health
of animals, people, and the environment, CVM faculty seek new
knowledge through clinical and translational research and conduct
ground-breaking studies in the areas of infectious disease,
biomedical and genomic research, food systems and security, and
environmental and ecological health. The CVM ranks sixth in the
U.S. among veterinary programs and eleventh globally, as measured
by QS World Rankings. Our Veterinary Medical Center, which includes
three veterinary hospitals and an ambulatory equine practice,
supports more than 33,000 patient visits annually, enabling
training of veterinary students, interns, and residents and
supporting clinical research. The state's official animal health
laboratory, the Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory, also resides
within the College of Veterinary Medicine. Additionally The Raptor
Center (TRC), established in 1974, is part of the CVM. TRC is first
and foremost a hospital for ill and injured raptors, caring for
over 1,000 birds annually. As an internationally renowned
veterinary teaching hospital, TRC trains students and professionals
from around the world to become future leaders in raptor medicine
and conservation and conducts multi-disciplinary ecosystem health
research. TRC has a substantial education and outreach program to
educate and inspire the public. Using raptor ambassador birds,
TRC's education team uses innovative methods to reach over 150,000
